National Science Week Grants

Individuals, organisations and businesses are invited to apply for funding to help support your public STEM engagement event or activity in 2021.

Grants of up to $2,000 (ex GST) are available for events and activities that engage Tasmanians in the areas of science, technology, engineering, maths, medicine and innovation. Eligible activities include face-to-face events and online events, activities and resources. Events and activities that fall outside of National Science Week (14 – 22 August 2021) will also be considered for funding.

Submissions close 11.59 PM Wednesday 21 October 2020. Recipients will be notified of the outcome on Thursday 29 October 2020.

Please note that schools are not eligible to apply unless your event or activity is designed to engage the wider public. Visit the ASTA website for announcements regarding funding opportunities for school  activities.

National Science Week Seed Grants for Public Events 2021

  • Give your event a title, even if it's only a 'working title'
  • Help us form a picture of what your event/activity will look like, the more detail the better.
  • Please enter what venue(s) you plan on using or approaching for your event and/or indicate if your event will be online.
  • Please describe who will attend this event and anticipated attendance. (e.g families with young children, approximately 40 people)
  • (How will you get the word out about your event? (e.g. Social media, media releases, newsletters, networks etc)
  • (Why are you doing this and what do you hope it will achieve?)
  • Your budget can be basic but should address total income and expenditure, including in kind contributions; make sure you clearly highlight which aspects will be covered by the grant. Download the budget template.
