The Hive turns Five!

For five years, Hive has brought people together to learn, create, discover and connect through science, art and history. Now it’s time to celebrate everything that makes Hive special, from the exhibitions and experiences on offer to the people, partnerships and shared memories at its heart.

Join us on Saturday 7 November as we celebrate five years of curiosity, creativity and community with a day of activities and exploration for all ages across the whole building.

What’s On?

Be among the first to try the new Hive Passport.
Children can collect a free Hive at Five Passport on arrival and explore activities and experiences throughout the building. Visit different spaces, collect stamps along the way, and complete the passport to earn a special birthday reward.
Join in making music in Studio One with an instrument that you never actually touch!
Experience the Planetarium with free 20-minute sessions running throughout the day. No separate booking required. Places are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis – collect your ticket at Visitor Services on arrival.
Unearth prehistoric discoveries in the Science Centre’s Fossil Dig experience.
Get creative alongside artist Katelyn Geard with a hands-on activity inspired by Close to Home, an exhibition featuring emerging artists with connections to Tasmania’s North West and West Coast.
Discover the history of the Hive’s site through a special display, and enjoy badge-making activities for all ages.
Children who complete their Hive Passport will receive a complimentary piece of birthday cake from Seventy Acres Café.

Whether you’re a regular visitor or it’s your first time through the doors, this is a chance to discover something new, revisit your favourite Hive experiences and help shape Hive’s next chapter by sharing your stories, memories and ideas.
