It is that time of year again where the days get shorter and the city of Hobart lights up with its crimson glow! Here at Science in the Pub we are continuing our tradition with offering you a slightly different flavour of our usual event to ring in the festivities. Next week we will explore “blurring the boundaries” between reality and fiction through a few different lenses. A focus is taken on the intersection between the creative arts and science.

Our speakers have unique, diverse backgrounds in scientific research, creative writing, gemmology, and psychotherapy:

Demeritous Professor Günther Schlonk (The Journal of Immaterial Science) – A satirical take on scientific publishing

Isabel Grotaers (Sargisons Jewellers) – Demystifying Diamonds, Imitations and Simulants

Dr Liz Evans (Creative Writing/English & Writing, UTAS) – Taking out the ‘Trash’: Mis/Representing Women’s Trauma in Psychological Thrillers.

When: Wednesday 4 June, 7pm start
Where: Boodle Beasley (315 Elizabeth Street, North Hobart)
Cost: Free as always!

Please note access to the room is via a flight of stairs.

Come join us as we kick off the festive winter season!
