Philosophy in the Pub

Join philosophers from the University of Tasmania as they examine “Equality: should we aspire to it?”

Philosophy in the Pub is an opportunity for members of the community to meet and discuss, in some depth, a philosophical topic of their own choosing.

The event is hosted by philosophers as part of the university’s ongoing engagement with the broader Tasmanian community.  The topic to be examined this month is: “Equality: should we aspire to it?” Discussion ranges broadly, but issues that may be examined include comparing ‘moral should’ claims with other ‘should’ claims (e.g., ‘pragmatic should’ claims), comparing different types of equality (e.g., ‘equality of opportunity’ versus ‘equality of outcome’), and possible moral justifications of equality (or inequality).

Head to the pub, and engage in a conversation on equality.
