At this year’s National Tree Day, join Kingborough Council to strengthen an important bushland link on North Bruny Island. This bushland corridor provides habitat and allows the safe movement of animals between the coast and the hills.
Bruny Island is a global biodiversity hotspot and home to all 12 Tasmanian endemic birds, including the forty-spotted pardalote and swift parrot. Healthy habitat on Bruny Island is the most important factor in saving these two critically endangered birds.
It will be a team effort to get the 1000 native plants in the ground – a diverse range of locally native plants, grown in the Council nursery from seeds sourced locally. Make a purposeful visit and help care for this special place!
We will be celebrating Bruny with the displays from local projects and local organisations, information on how to get involved and talks about interesting activities. Come with your enthusiasm and take home new knowledge, a sense of achievement and some new connections.
