Trees have a quiet way of gathering our attention. They anchor us in place, offering shelter, shade and continuity. Old trees tell stories of survival; young ones remind us that landscapes are constantly evolving. In celebration of National Tree Day, we are delighted to share with you our collaboration with Handmark Gallery.
Last November, a group of Handmark artists spent time at Pine Tier, our newest addition to Five Rivers Reserve in Tasmania’s Central Highlands. Rather than arriving simply to paint or sketch, they walked the reserve with our ecologists, learning the subtle histories of its forests, sedgelands and grasslands.
The resulting exhibition, featuring works by Peter Gouldthorpe, Melissa Smith, Helen Mueller, Julie Payne, David Edgar, Max Mueller, Olivia Moroney, Adrian Barber, Melanie McCollin-Walker and Dean Stevenson, is a conversation between art and nature.
