Global Climate Tipping Points and Australia

The planet is warming and we’re already seeing the effects on our day-to-day lives. We understand many of these ongoing changes fairly well, but one big wildcard in our future is if we will hit one or more global climate ‘tipping points’. Triggering sudden, catastrophic and irreversible change in some part of the climate would lead to much greater impacts, possibly past our capacity to adapt.

CSIRO’s Dr Michael Grose is lead author of a recent report that brought together many Australian researchers to discuss climate tipping points and how they may affect Australia. For our first event of 2024, Michael will tell us what those tipping points could be, and how worried should Australians be.
