Claws on the Line School Visits

To increase awareness of threatened burrowing crayfish species in Tasmania, the Bookend Trust invites north and north-west primary schools to join in Claws on the Line burrowing crayfish activities in September and October. We offer school incursions and an art competition to help students learn and understand more about about these amazing creatures.

School incursions: These are offered during 15-17 September for schools in and near Devonport/Latrobe, and 22 – 24 September for schools in the Burnie area. Each incursion (two hours) includes three hands-on and interactive burrowing crayfish activities, led by zoologists Dr Alastair Richardson and Dr Clare Hawkins who have a deep understanding of the animals and the science behind threatened species. School incursions are suitable for Year 5 and 6 students, and we can accommodate 1 – 2 classes.
