Butterfly Brilliance floor talks

Discover how butterfly collections chart climate and landscape change, and what it means for butterfly survival.

Built through 50 years of butterfly research, experts Ian Knight and Trevor Lambkin amassed a private collection of over 12,000 butterfly species from across Australia, South East Asia and Oceania. This extensive and nationally significant collection will now call QVMAG home for future generations of researchers.

The study of insects is crucial to our understanding of biodiversity, ecology, and the changing climate. Entomology collections, such as the Lambkin-Knight butterfly collection, provide a window back in time to understand changes in biodiversity across landscapes.

To celebrate the acquisition of this incredible collection, join the Natural Science team, Simon Fearn and David Maynard, as they show you highlights from the Lambkin-Knight collection, discuss how butterflies are responding to climate change, and how you can help care for this nationally significant collection.

Tickets are $6.36 and are limited.
