Bushcare Walk & Talks: Discover Hobart’s Threatened Grasslands

Our Fire and Biodiversity team will give you a behind-the-scenes look at how we are restoring grassy woodland habitat, including critically endangered lowland Themeda triandra grasslands, as we walk through beautiful native bushland.

You will learn about how our team is using fire as a landscape restoration tool, and for shaping and caring for grassland ecosystems on Hobart’s Queens Domain.

You will also discover how we are restoring lost ground habitat on the Queens Domain by installing large habitat tree logs across the northern section of the Domain.

This is an incredibly important project in the Decade of Restoration, and is already having real impacts on the health of our native grassy woodlands.

Not only is this work bringing back nationally threatened native grasslands, it is also restoring habitat for threatened wildlife like our eastern barred bandicoots.
