Bush Kids: activities for 7 – 10 years olds

The Incredible Journey
Wednesday 8 Apr, 1.30-3pm
Hobart is a hotspot for shorebirds in the International Frequent Flyers Club. What countries do they visit? How do they know when to depart and where they are flying to next? Join us for an amazing journey over the seas, wetlands and beaches of the world and make your own feathery friend to take home.
Meet: Nutgrove Beach carpark, end of Long Point Rd (near Sandy Bay Sailing Club), Sandy Bay
The Great Tasmanian Model Bush Boat Race
Sunday 12 Apr, 1.30-3pm
Using only the materials you find around you, your hands and quick thinking, see if you can make a model boat to travel down the rivulet, carrying precious cargo. Will your boat sink or float and will your cargo survive the journey?
Meet: New Town Rivulet, far end of Lenah Valley Rd, Lenah Valley (look for our flag)
Whose Poos are Whose?
Monday 13 Apr, 1.30-3pm
Are there devils living in Waterworks Valley? How do we know? During this animal evidence identification workshop we will learn how to identify some of the scats, skulls, tracks and other traces that animals leave behind. We will then go for a walk in search of animal evidence and make some animal evidence to take home.
Meet: Waterworks Reserve, Site 9, Waterworks Rd, Ridgeway
Tassie Rocks!
Saturday 18 Apr, 10-11.30am
Are you ready to rock your world? Join us on this rocking adventure as we learn about different rock types, how they were formed and how to make your very own precious stones.
Meet: Knocklofty Reserve, gravel carpark at top end of Forest Road, West Hobart
