Blue economy and green goals for a sunburnt country

Join Beer Aquatic to discuss the Blue Economy. This phrase has become a buzz in marine science and management circles, but do you know what it means? Maybe you immediately thought of fishing and fish farming – and you’d be partly right – but you’d probably be surprised at how many other commercial activities comprise the Blue Economy. In a changing physical and economic climate, can Australia manage these activities and emerging new opportunities, whilst still caring for a stressed ocean?

Dr Beth Fulton of the CSIRO will explore these questions at the final Beer Aquatic for the year. She is a research scientist who uses mathematical models to explore the marine ecosystem, and how Australia can sustainably prosper with a Blue Economy in the future.
