The Australian Antarctic Festival returns to its normal biennial schedule after having been cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This free, five-day event provides an insight into Antarctic exploration, both historic and contemporary, as well as presenting an entertaining and educational program explaining the role of ongoing expeditions, the transport and equipment requirements and the science and research being conducted on the frozen continent.
It also looks at some of the leisure-time activities undertaken by the expeditioners including art and photography and other artistic endeavours inspired by Antarctic exploration.
