2027 Inspiring Women in STEMM (IWIS) Fellowship program – applications closing!

Applications are due on Wednesday 16 September for the 2027 Inspiring Women in STEMM (IWIS) Fellowship program!

Each year, IWIS supports three women undertaking STEMM PhDs in Tasmania to advance their careers, share their passion for STEMM and create opportunities for the next generation.

To provide a glimpse of what the Fellowship can make possible, we are delighted to share three short videos featuring our 2026 Fellows. In these videos, they tell their STEMM stories, introduce their research and explain the engagement projects they have developed for communities that matter to them:

Their stories demonstrate the many different pathways into STEMM, and how Fellows can draw on their research and lived experiences to inspire young people and open more inclusive pathways into STEMM.

As an IWIS Fellow, you will be supported to:

  • Find and amplify your voice through communication coaching and opportunities to share your science and personal STEMM journey.
  • Open pathways into STEMM by developing a funded engagement project for young people in a community that matters to you.
  • Grow, and help others grow through mentoring and a supportive network of women in STEMM.

If this sounds like you, we would love to receive your application by Wed, 16 Sept. If you know someone who would make a fantastic Fellow, please encourage them to apply or forward this email to them.

Please see the Inspiring Women in STEMM website for 2027 Fellowship information for eligibility and application details, including the Declaration Form.
