Students Join International Expedition to China’s Premier Geological Region

Students from the University of Tasmania’s Centre for Ore Deposit and Earth Sciences (CODES) have returned from a comprehensive study tour of one of the world’s most significant geological regions, China’s Middle and Lower Yangtze Metallogenic Belt.

The expedition began with the International Conference on Metallogeny of the Middle and Lower Yangtze Metallogenic Belt in Hefei, where CODES Director Professor David Cooke and Associate Professor Lejun Zhang were invited as keynote speakers.

Professor Cooke’s presentation on the global copper challenge drew nearly 24,000 online viewers, while Associate Professor Zhang, presenting in Mandarin, attracted over 20,000 virtual attendees discussing copper exploration techniques.
