Nominations Now Open – Young Tall Poppy Awards 2025

The annual Young Tall Poppy Science Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of Australian scientists. Recipients of the Award provide understanding and an appreciation of science in the broader community.

Do you know an early career researcher who is making a significant impact in science and science communication? You can now nominate them for the Young Tall Poppy Award so they can be celebrated for all of their hard work.

Nominations are open from 28 February – 28 April 2025, with winners announced in August 2025.

What are the Young Tall Poppy Awards?

The Young Tall Poppy Science Awards were created in 1998 by the Australian Institute of Policy and Science (AIPS) to recognise and celebrate Australian intellectual and scientific excellence and to encourage younger Australians to follow in the footsteps of our outstanding achievers. The awards have made significant achievements towards building a more publicly engaged scientific leadership in Australia.

Almost 1,000 Young Tall Poppy Science Awards have been made around Australia and Awards programs are currently in place in every Australian state and territory.

The Young Tall Poppy Awards are open to Australian residents working in all fields of science, including biomedical, behavioural sciences, engineering, mathematics, social sciences, technology and other applied or cross disciplinary sciences.
