The Prime Minister’s Prize for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Knowledge Systems will be awarded for the first time in 2025. Nominations have now opened and will remain open until 18 March 2025.
This new prize recognises the practice and preservation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge systems occurring across Australia. Recipients of the Prize will receive national recognition of their work and $250,000 in prize money. Through their achievement, recipients will become important role models who inspire other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians.
To nominate for the Prize you need to provide:
• Your name and contact details.
• The contact details of the person, team or group you are nominating.
• A written response addressing the assessment criteria.
• A written description of nominees’ background and experience or a CV per nominee.
• The contact details of 2 supporters.
• The contact details of 2 independent referees.
Nominations are made by community members, colleagues and peers. Your nomination is the first step – no one can be recognised unless you nominate them.
The Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science celebrate demonstrated achievements in scientific research, research-based innovation, the practice of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge systems and excellence in science teaching.
