Having spent his life working in sustainability, in 2018 he co-founded Sea Forest — a climate start up which successfully turns asparagopsis, a native species of seaweed, into a livestock feed supplement to reduce methane emissions.
“As an active environmentalist, I was learning more and more about the changes that we face as a result of increasing carbon concentration in our atmosphere,” Mr Elsom said.
“We have lived through some of the worst bushfires, the hottest years on record, some of the worst floods — and they’ve all happened in the last decade.”
But, rather than being weighed down, he said he believed change was possible.
