Inspiring Tasmania Community STEM Grants were awarded to:
Central Coast Council – Derby 2.0
Building from existing Derby track at Hive, participants will have the opportunity to research, engineer, manufacture & test original car designs to race along the track.
GreenSTEM Education – Greenpower Tasmania
This involves teams of students working together to design, build and race a single-seater electric vehicle.
GreenSTEM Education – STEM on Track
This innovative program allows young people to engage with relevant STEM learning through gamified online STEM learning modules and applying this new learning through assembling a go-kart – enabling hands-on application of the STEM content underpinning each step.
STEM for Girls – STEM on the East Coast
The STEM for Girls Club will host a STEM Expo to engage the community with interactive robotics and innovative projects, aiming to ignite curiosity in STEM fields, which will be held in three places – St Helens, St Marys and Fingal.
Bookend Trust – Where? Where? Wedgie!
We propose to attract more participants across Tasmania in the annual, highly inclusive Where? Where? Wedgie! (WWW) project, to monitor population numbers of Tasmania’s raptors and white cockatoos.
Science in the Pub Tasmania – Inspiring Women in STEM
The program provides Fellows with funds for STEMM youth engagement programs in their community, individual coaching in how to share their stories of science perseverance and media opportunities to amplify their voice.
Friends of Bruny Island Quarantine Station – Science Activity Day
The project is a one day inclusive Science Activities Day (October 6th) open to all ages. The content will span electronics, robots, chemistry, physics, etc.
Bangor Vineyard Shed – Tasman Wildlife Showcase
An afternoon showcasing key wildlife of the Tasman region, including Tasmanian Devils, birds, and local fauna. The event features 3 talks by Tasmanian scientists, followed by an afternoon tea and a chance to meet the scientists at their display booths.
